Of Another Nf6 Masters Series - 2012 Edition

It is always interesting to run the Nf6 Masters Series having been involved with the tournament since 2010 - which I initially joined as a player. Players are usually invited to play in the 10 players round robin format using the longer 90 minutes plus 30 seconds incremental time control. This year's edition will be the strongest Nf6 Masters Challenge series ever assembled - or for that matter, the strongest event ever held in recent years for local Malaysian players, boasting an average player's rating of 2065. On top of the list is youngster Yeoh Li Tian at 2258 followed by father Yeoh Chin Seng, a former National Champion rated at 2144. Third seed player is another former National Champion Kamalarifin Wahiduddin with a FIDE rating of 2134 followed by Mohd Saprin Sabri at 2112.

The drawing of lots for the playing order was conducted last night in Bangi, hosted by Mohd Saprin Sabri and witnessed by Zaidan Zulkipli, Abdul Aziz Abdul Shukor and organizer Mohd Syazrin Abdul Rahman.

The 2012 Nf6 Masters Challenge will clock off this Friday, 9th November starting at 7:00pm at the Neo Manhattan Chess Club located in Taman Tun Dr Ismail. From then onwards, 2 rounds will be played each day starting with 9:30am for the morning round and 3:00pm for the afternoon round with the last day of play scheduled on 13th November 2013.

An Nf6 Junior event is also schedule to run concurrent at the same venue but as to date, the organizer are still looking for 3 more players to fill up the vacant spot before proceeding with the draw.
