Of Spinning An Innocent Comment

Someone told me that someone said Jimmy, Peter and I have been talking a lot about Li Tian as the next GM and accuse "that we are promoting the boy through back door".
Allo??? What back door ah??? Just because we said, does not mean we are promoting back door. Haiya some people..... So sad la.... Benda yang innocent pun boleh jadi isu... Saya tak paham la!!! After all, in my article, I also mention 2 other names...
Anyway, do we have any other 12 year old boy currently that has passed the 2200 FIDE Rating mark? None.... And, Li Tian is currently ranked number 7 in the country. So, go figure... who would be the most likely candidate then? And I did mention in my article - at the end of it, that we need to find a 7, 8 or 9 year old as a better bet because there are obvious challenges with Li Tian - SPM in 4 years time. So susah la....
It is really frustrating dealing with a nincompoop who just "tembak" for the sake of "tembaking". Cuba la ada substance sikit. Ini main hentam ajer.....
So, either he has something against Li Tian or he has human brain dysfunction complexity syndrome (that this person is unable to see things straight!). Maybe both....
Or maybe, this person is just looking for cheap publicity because nobody is reading (or commenting) on his blog anymore???
P/S Actually, I am promoting "an underground door"... LOL! Where you can't see how it came, and before you know it, it has left....

  1. Actually neither Peter nor me has mentioned that Li Tian is our best GM bet. Go and read my post again and Peter's comments and tell me if I am wrong.

I commented this on that "someone"s blog but as usual unfavourable comments will not be published.

  2. It's just as I quoted on my blog:

'I take it for granted there is really no such thing as “intelligence”. There are a million ways to be smart and no one’s smart in all of them; everyone can be slow on the uptake, and most human beings, whether plumbers or professors, will be remarkably apt at some things and hopeless at others. "But stupid isn’t dumb. Stupidity is different. It involves an element of will. This is why no one ever talks about “militant dumbness” or “militant cluelessness”, but they do talk about “militant stupidity”. The Polish science fiction writer Stanislaw Lem once tried to imagine the stupidest possible computer. It could only do one problem, 2+2, thought the answer was 5, and when anyone tried to tell it otherwise, it grew outraged and eventually, tried to kill them.

    Jimmy,

Peter did say something to that extent. I quote from his blog:

"...it is clear that we now have two potential Grandmaster candidates amongst our young.

They are Yeoh Li Tian and Nur Najiha Azman Hisham, both who are 13 years old and as we all know, special cases as was with our current No. 1 Mas Hafizulhelmi Abdul Rahman who enjoyed that standing 15 years or so ago."

But that doesn't change the fact that some people are intentionally stupid.

    2. "back door" is Raymond Siew's mentioned, not Najib. Najib's door is "underground door" which I think is the door to hell , where Raymond is going.

  4. John.... The Malay word for this kind of situation is "GERAM!!"
for the "complete hopelessness for the sheer stupidity, ignorance and stubbornness of a man"....

  5. Hi Najib,
I remember the time when I partnered a scum called Ignatius Leong to do a business at a time when he had started to fall out with Hamid.
Even such a person who has unbelievable sins to answer for adhered to a strict policy of never taking frustrations or a conflict with parents on their kids and in I would even say went out of his way to ensure they got the best possible treatment.
Now as to how he exploited kids to get their parents money or support, that is another story...
BTW, do you also get emails asking you to read blogs? If you do let me tell you about this wonderful technology you may have forgotten called a spam filter. It works real well! (Now I seem to be starting to read you as well as Jimmy but by no stretch of anyone's imagination would three of us be in cahoots over anything!)
    Chess Ninja,
Your comment stated correctly I said two potential GM candidates and I hope all understand what the word potential means and I would further add I referred to two 13 year olds. Anyone who has ready or spoken to me would appreciate that a large part of why I said that (besides their obviously superior results even relative to older peers and ability to compete with with other national players as well as score against international competition) is because I am fully aware of the realities of the school system which is ticking time bomb that has largely deprived even such exceptional and dedicated talents like Nicholas Chan (and Ronnie Liu?)
Bear in mind too that I teach Roshan Singh, our U-14 Champion last year and now U-16 Champion who starred for Malaysian Team at the World Youth Olympiad and was also second in the National Juniors and I don't doubt his talent but basically saying at 15 years and losing a year to PMR his prospects are much lower than six months ago. But he, his parents, and others helping like me will be doing our best within all our inherent limitations to maximise his potential whether than means 2100, 2200, FM, IM or GM.

    1. Not to be pedantic but I think you meant Ronnie Lim? Ronnie Liu is a politician from DAP I believe.
